What is YQL?

The Yahoo! Query Language (YQL) is an expressive SQL-like language that lets you query, filter, and join data across Web services.

With YQL, developers can access and shape data across the Internet through one simple language, eliminating the need to learn how to call different APIs.

Using YQL

The YQL example can be tested using the YQL Console.

You can get a description of the thesaurus table by the following statement:

You can search for the synonyms of a word in a given language using a simple SQL-like query:

select * from thesaurus where key="test_only" and word="peace" and language="en_US" (test YQL console, test REST query)

In order to run your own specific queries you need your own application key.
