Einstein field equation
Noun

Einstein field equation (plural Einstein field equations)

  1. (relativity) A symmetric 4 × 4 tensor equation in general relativity in which the gravitational force is described as a curvature of spacetime caused by matter and energy.
The Einstein field equation states that the energy-momentum tensor is directly proportional to the Ricci tensor minus half of the Ricci scalar times the metric tensor plus the cosmological constant times the metric tensor.
