  1. (historical) A princely state which governed the region of Kashmir, the territory of which is now de facto divided between China, India and Pakistan.
  2. The portion of the territory of that state which is governed by India, and which has Srinagar as its summer capital and Jammu is its winter capital. The area is a union territory.
